If you love regular boating but find the cost of ownership, or conventional chartering prohibitive, then maybe our "Budget Boating Plan" would be something you would like to consider.

The way we see it is like this, our boat is engaged on charters and mini-cruises for around 30% of the year and while that's not bad, it still means our boat is unused for about 70% of the year. What we are looking to do is find a way of making that unused time available to like minded boating enthusiasts at a really attractive price. We see this as a "win-win" situation for both prospective clients and ourselves. It means you have low cost access to regular boating and it helps us cover our fixed costs, which is particularly relevent during the present credit crunch !!

We are not talking about shared boat ownership, boating time share schemes, or boat clubs, where you are locked into expensive long term contracts. Our plan is simply to provide you with access to the typical amount of time you might expect to spend boating during any one year at a genuinely low relative cost.

You can use your days to just come down, stay on the boat, relax and enjoy the marine environment and local surroundings.

If you want to go out for a cruise you will need to be accompanied by our skipper. However, daily rates are very reasonable and hopefully, you may actually find this an advantage, as you will have a friendly person to drive the boat so you can relax and concentrate on your guests. If you would like to take the helm, you can still do this under skipper's guidance and where conditions allow.

The only other costs will be fuel, short stay or overnight marina charges and B&B costs for our skipper, if you choose to stay on the boat overnight.

(Marina and B&B charges only apply while the boat is away from her home berth).

How much might you expect to pay ?

Well, a ten day block would cost £550 and skipper rates are £100 per day. Fuel costs are £2.50 per mile outside the harbour and £1.75 within.

So a typical season's boating of 6 days cruising (say 200 miles) with a 4 day stay on her home berth would cost £1,150, plus £500 fuel, plus any marina / B&B costs.

Don't forget, if you restrict your cruising to within Chichester Harbour, fuel costs will be significantly reduced !!

The £550 block booking fee is payable in advance, with additional costs charged as the boat is used.

A fully refundable security deposit is also payable.

What are the limitations ?

For us to be able to operate this scheme, it is essential that it is able to run alongside our regular chartering / mini-cruise schedule.

Therefore, while you are able to book your days for the year in advance, we are unable to guarantee availability of any dates during peak periods (currently weekends during May and June,the whole of July, August and weekends during September)

This does not mean your chosen dates will be unavailable, just that if a charter comes in for one of those days, we will have to give that priority. If you do wish to guarantee peak period days, you can do so for an additional payment of £150 for each day you wish you secure. This is reduced to £100 if you are using the services of our skipper.

We will do our best to avoid using one of your days, but hope you will understand that this is the only way we can make this scheme work.

Equally, if during the off-peak season we receive a booking enquiry for one of your chosen days, we will give your dates priority. We may approach you and ask if you could change, however, if that is inconvenient, your day will stand.

You do not have to book your days in advance and can feel free to book your days as the year progresses and you can also change your days, subject to availability. However, the above priority system will still apply.

All bookings are subject to mutual agreement of terms by both parties.

As this is the first year we have considered offering this type of scheme, we are intitallly limiting the offer to 4 blocks of 10 days to ensure we don't compromise availability of the boat for either our regular chartering or our budget plan customers.
