Cruise Ideas
If you wish to be sure of a gentle, relaxing cruise in tranquil, sheltered waters, we would suggest remaining within the confines of Chichester Harbour, with perhaps a short trip out to sea towards the Isle of Wight if conditions are calm.

Chichester harbour is an area of significant natural beauty, with plenty of bird and wild-life, picturesque Bosham Village and the remote sandy beach anchorage at East Head, amongst many other places of interest.

Cruising these waters offers the opportunity to relax , unwind and enjoy the ambience of this delightful and peaceful part of West Sussex. It can also provide the perfect setting for a creative business event or planning session.

Depending on your requirements, you can have a buffet lunch on board, or alternatively land at Bosham Village or Hayling Island, for example, and take a meal ashore.

Four to six hours should be sufficient to make the most of this area, and include sufficient time to take in a leisurely meal.

If you wish to travel slightly further afield and experience the more exhilarating waters around the South Coast, then within around 50 minutes from departure, you can leave Chichester harbour, with it’s 8 Knot speed restriction, open the throttles and make your way out towards the Eastern Solent. Here you can start to feel the open sea and view the numerous commercial and pleasure vessels plying this busy stretch of water.

If you time your cruise to coincide with one of the numerous key maritime events that take place within these waters, such as the Tall Ships Race, you will find you have an excellent vantage point from where you can view these exciting activities.

Within a further 30 minutes, you can reach the entrance to busy Portsmouth Harbour.

From here the Harbour Eye webcam broadcasts live coverage of local shipping movements onto the internet so you may just be able to spot yourselves on camera !

Once in the harbour, you can view the many historic and modern naval vessels and other points of interest, or stop off at one of the local marinas, have something to eat and maybe explore the harbour from ashore.

Alternatively, a further 20 minutes or so sailing will bring you to the Mediterranean style Port Solent Marina. Here you will find a wide variety of restaurants, shops, bars and boutiques with a lively atmosphere where you can relax and soak up the atmosphere before getting back on board for the return journey to Chichester.

Six to eight hours should provide sufficient time to make the most of this particular cruise and allow sufficient opportunity to take in a meal and drinks ashore.

For those wishing to venture further, it is possible to reach Cowes, Southampton Waters, Beaulieu river and many other popular Solent ports and harbours in just over an hour after leaving Chichester Harbour.

Again, if you time your cruise to coincide with one of the numerous key maritime events that take place within these waters such as the Tall Ships Race, Cowes Week, Power and Sail Boat Racing, you will find you have an excellent vantage point from where you can view these exciting activities.

Please see our local cruising area map for typical popular locations and attractions in this particular area.

A minimum of eight hours is recommended to make the most of this part of the Solent and still have sufficient time for a meal and drinks at a suitable venue, such as the Folly Inn on the River Medina.

Alternatively, clients can book the vessel for two or more days at discounted rates and we can arrange suitable overnight accommodation at the port of their choice so they are still able to visit more distant locations at a leisurely pace.

Even further locations, such as Poole, Weymouth and beyond can be visited and explored under this arrangement.
